I recently had the pleasure of dismantling bits off Roger's spares car, and whilst I was there I asked how he had removed the cloth covered plastic pieces that go up either side of the windscreen, as the cloth is coming off on my drivers side.
I experimented fitting and removing the one on rogers car, very easy if you are careful.
Today I decided to take mine off, so with clean hands I removed mine, easy (it almost fell off).
Next job was how to stick the cloth back on without stain or damage so I asked the expert..... she suggested gently ironing it back on. Using low heat and a cloth (I remember doing my trousers like that!!!!) we ironed it on without ruckles. It is now being left overnight to see if it is OK tomorrow morning?

Have the same issue, passenger side myself, Brian.
Do you just pull the trims off?
I had visions of having to use contact adhesive to stick the cloth back on. So ironing is the answer?

Hi Mike,
In my usual long winded fashion,
1 with the door open pull the door sealing strip rearwards off the door reveal edge ( I found it easier to start beside the dashboard and it came away easily).
2 you can now get your fingers behind the top edge of the strip/surround and gently pull rearwards, down and in towards the centre of the car and it will literally fall off, and only the bottom edge will hold it on.
3 gently wriggle the bottom bit so the bottom end will lift out of the slot in the end of the dash top.
As we were very aware how easy it would be to damage the material we used the iron on low heat and with a cloth over it and gently iron a bit at a time to see how it went and left it last night. this morning a little bit was loose so we ironed that again and left it in the sun, so I will see what its like later (just got in from a day out in the MkII we are a bit hot).
I'll let you know how it goes Mike.

The results so far are:-
Plastic trim removed safely (no damage to it), ironed the cloth back on a few times, refitted to the car successfully, but the cloth is coming lose again, so the boss says we will try double sided tape next as she is concerned glue will stain the thin cloth.
I'll update again when we are successful.
