Great show today , but absolutely knackered, could have spent a kings ransom but damage limitation to only some useful minor bits.
Mike K - several superb XJ's at sensible prices
DavidR Sorry I missed you today.
One day is not sufficient to do the show justice

Oldtimer - sorry to have missed you. Due to the wonders of public transport I didn't get there until after 3pm! Glad you enjoyed it but at least I avoided you ribbing me about some small imperfection you found on my car!

DavidR,
How could I possibly tell how wonderful your car is, you would only think that I'm after something.

So sorry to hear of your late arrival - so much for public transport ! In contrast I left home at 08.00hrs in beautiful sunshine - too good to last -and hit, like a tropical storm about half way there - was quite dodgy - horrendous rain and spray from other vehicles. Got there just before the doors opened.

Arriving early on the Friday was a pleasure in that one could move around quite freely but as the day progressed and more people arrived the crowds became somewhat over powering for me so departed at 15.30hrs. Apart from that I think my arms were pulling out of their sockets with what I had collected on route

Oldtimer

PS See you at Kemble for breakfast

Busy on the stand today with lots of interest in the cars. Many people stopping to ask about the Celebration and a good number of new members signed up.
Hope to see more people tomorrow!

I've had a great time this weekend and I'm pleased to say that I've got the car back home and tucked it up safe and sound this evening.
I've spoken to so many people this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Great to see old friends and make many new ones. Thanks to all of you who paid so many compliments to the car.
Most popular question of the weekend from the public? "What's that worth mate?" I got so fed up at the question that I added £100 every time I was asked - had it up well over £25k by the end!!
Many thanks to the JEC team who impressed me hugely with their ceaseless enthusiasm and hard work all weekend - we are so lucky to have these guys working on our behalf.
regards
David

Well done David. Judging by the generous mark-up on cars for sale at the show you might have been able to sell at £30k ( not that you'd want to to! A "keeper" for sure ). It took me all Saturday to get around the show; so much to see and do. It was good to catch up with a number of folks and meet new folks. A great event that must have taken some organising. Interesting to note the number of XJS on display around the different halls; there is significant interest out there.

you sure your not talking about that new badge again ???

in all seriousness, well done mate, we need people like you and the others in the JEC at the show who are willing to put their cars up for display ( and judgement ) , but it is all about the passion and the enjoyment of doing so , and meeting and greeting with all those showing interest in the cars and the club

shame i had to work all weekend, but fully intend to be at the practical classic show next Feb

glad you had a good time

David,

Great to see you yesterday and the car looked tremendous! Well done!

The show was very comprehensive as always but I do think the organisers really need to look at some of the issues. The crowding in areas of the car displays is not really acceptable, the way in which they'd split the trade and autojumble was very confusing and both traders and car clubs were moaning about the organisation.

Still, a good opportunity to catch up with a lot of colleagues and I avoided buying anything in the auction, so not too expensive either! Mind you, I am veering towards one of the new home powder coating kits.......
