Break down avoided

Postby Phil 18 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 10:25 pm

Checking the header tank for water level today, the pressurised cap, has basacailly fallen apart
from what appears to be rust from the top of the cap. This is the second one in approximately  12 months that I have fitted. Both being brand new, I am now thinking do not go on a long journey unless you have a spare one in the boot, which I now have. Has anyone else experience this, as my car is a 3.6, perhaps there is a stainless steel one that will fit, maybe peeps can point me in the right direction.

Phili,

I assume that you're buying these caps from Jaguar? If so, I'd be taking them straight back for a replacement or refund. Those caps should last 20 years, not 6 months!

Let us know how you get on.
