V12 Oil

Postby Blackdog » Fri Oct 30, 2015 4:26 pm

Once upon a time there was plenty of choice for 20/50 oils and the world was a better place. The only one that I can now find easily is Halfords Classic, which fills me with dread. The oil cooler recently sprang a leak (expensive!) and to get me home I topped up with 10/40, the only thing available. This seems to come out of the exhaust pipe almost as fast as petrol, whereas with 20/50 it hardly uses any (not natural I know). The people who work on it for me reckon Petronas is the only branded 20/50 available. Does anyone know of any others, or perhaps could recommend another type. I wondered about 10/60?

I find Morris's 10W40 ideal for my XJS - low consumption, stays pretty clean between changes, and good value. They do a 20W/50 here. Available from my local auto factors, so maybe from yours.

Thanks - never heard of Morris oil, but I see from their website that they specialise in oils for all sorts of ancient machinery.

I now buy all my oils online from Opie Oils as my daily diesel (not Jag) needs watery thin fully synthetic low ash expensive super duper stuff.

Have a look at their website as I'm sure they do various high quality semi-synth 20/50 which will be better quality then mineral oils.
