Hi All

I attended my local JEC meet on the 6th July and there was a talk by the MD of a company called EDT Automotive.

They provide a hot oil engine flush for your vehicle. Basically the engine is flushed with a warm Soya based oil, under pressure, in via the oil filter connection and out through the sump drain plug. Obviously the presentation was noting but totally positive with no complaints from any customers anywhere, improvements in engine performance, economy etc....

There are you tube clips of it being done if you want to have a look there to see.

I have never heard of them nor the service they offer! All sounds too good to be true which in my mind means it usually is!

Has anyone else?

Regards

Simon

Here is the link to EDT in Ashford, Kent.

Engine, gearbox and fuel system flushing and decontamination is a growing industry. In my opinion to be encouraged to preserve and increase component longevity.

This is another method of keeping an engine internally clean. I suspect methodology is quite searching and does indeed remove a considerable quantity of combustion bi-product which might otherwise potentially cause oil starvation if left in situe. Modern fully synthetic oils are specifically designed and engineered with a view to anti-sludge formation and ability to hold bi-products in suspension whilst in service. However the occasional oil flush can do no harm at all in a well serviced engine. A degree of thought though must be applied before committing to such a process on a neglected engine where the volume of sludging and subsequent disturbance may cause more issues than it solves.

In principle, I am all for good process technology which may help any machinery attain an extended life.

Hi Simon
Just for information EDT is now 5 years old and we have treated over 55000 UK vehicles many of which are Jaguar. We currently have 116 five star reviews on Trust Pilot. We are unique and the only company in the UK which filters engine debris down to one micron instead of the 25 micron filter on the car. Its simple, clean engines perform better than dirty. We have engineering evidence of reduced emissions of and average of 69% on petrol and 58% on diesel, before and after rolling road power runs confirming increased BHP and torque and 70% increased oil flow rates. The only real test is to have your car treated!

And here is our discussion thread on the many aspects of engine decontamination.

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12498

PTJS1 and I have Pauls` AJ16 engined XJS and my 4.2 X350 on the ramp on Monday 5th February 2018 for engine decontamination treatment. Results will be posted on the above thread after the clean has taken place.

My own experience of EDT which was carried out on my 2002 XKR 12 months ago at Swallows was positive. I2% improvement in fuel efficiency, and a feeling of increased HP although not dyno tested, engine oil has remained much cleaner, mid brown not black. My calculation is that the treatment paid for itself after around 3500 miles.
