Ivory car in Jaguar publicity photograph, badged 'Insignia'

I thought you may be interested to see this Rob, given your interest in unusual Jaguars generally, and ownership of an Ivory XJ6 more specifically.

I was clearing through a build up of clobber/detritus in the attic which involved moving a large number of old car magazines to a downstairs storeroom. Obviously, that mostly involved reading the old car mags.

One of these (Car Choice January 1993) came with a calendar for 1993. November's picture is a 'Jaguar XJ-S V12 Coupe Insignia' - in Ivory and badged as an Insignia.

I thought you may be interested in seeing an Ivory Jaguar in an official Jaguar photograph with Insignia badging and used as an example by Jaguar of an Insignia Jaguar.

It is not the same car as the one sold on Piston Heads a while back, since that was a convertible - the same/very similar car was featured in a black and white photo taken in front of Jaguar Cars you posted on xj40.com a while back here:

I suppose the post should have been put in the XJ-S section, but I have typed it now!!

If you want the calender, send me a PM and I will send it to you!

Popsjag,

It is indeed the XJ40 / X300 Bulletin Board subsection (Forum pages are elsewhere). So I have locked this thread and moved a copy to the XJS Bulletin Board General sub-section.

Cheers

Paul

Nice, and interestingly NOT badged as an Insignia, same as my two cars and the 6.0 Convertible, Ivory never made it into production, so I guess this could be the reason the for the badge deletion??

Maybe some owners just didn't want the badges. Or maybe you had to pay extra for them!

this is where ' as it left the factory ' spec for a timeline falls down

customers could order what they liked, so no car is ' standard ' to be honest

Insignia cars always had Insignia badges fitted, I checked all the build records, each one specifically states "Insignia wing badges"

However now that I have seen this pictures close up and for real, many thanks for sending it to me David, I reckon this is not an Ivory car but a Primrose Pearl, which is an Insignia colour and would explain the badges

just my thoughts RJ

Rob,

I was under the impression that there was only 1 Primrose Pearl convertible made, which belongs to Bob Evans of Kent region?

Did your research indicatee that there was more than 1 Primrose Pearl car?

Having seen Bob's car a number of times, I would suggest that this car pictured here is Ivory as identified by the owner.

Paul, the car is not owned or known, it is the picture on the calendar only that David had possession of and has passed to me, I'm pretty sure it's Primrose Pearl, but will stand corrected of course, off to dig about in my Insignia files
