The grass is as high as an elephant's eye

so the lyrics go in Oklahoma! Sitting in the XJS, the grass outside is definitely obstructing vision currently.

One of the hazards of being low to the ground and having a long nose, the car that is not me 8) at this time of the year is lack of vision aproaching junctions and roundabouts due to the grass and weeds growing high due to a lack of council mowing.

I took a scenic route on Sunday along the quieter A and B roads, A couple of times I nearly came to grief so I will be staying on the main roads next time. Drive carefully out there.

Possible solutions
  1. pump your tyres up
  2. bigger tyres
  3. sunroof and booster cushions
;-)

Another problem with the XJS is being blinded by oncoming cars' headlights shining under the motorway crash barrier.

Almost as good as the VW Bora that pulled across me on a A-Road and then panicked and stopped! In fairness, the evening sun was behind me meaning that he had poor visibility. Fortunately, I was only traveling at 50 mph so was able to pull-up in time.

It is my belief that councils purposely leave the grass uncut at junctions and especially roundabouts as a sick way of trying to slow down the motorist.....

I'm suffering near death by wildlife at the moment; had a deer run into the driver's door of the X-Type a couple of weeks ago and nearly took out a pigeon and a blackbird the same day.
Sunday killed a blackbird whilst driving the Alfa, Monday was death by pigeons (hundreds of them) picking up grain from the country roads at 0500 and then a suicidal herring gull trying to land on a bit of roadkill in the middle lane of the M3, 25 feet ahead of me doing 70mph (honest officer). Luckily there was nothing in the adjacent lane that I swerved into.
Going to stay at home I think, it's safer.
Apart from the hornet in the shed.

Not having the benefit of air conditioning at the moment, rather then parking in full sun I made the mistake of parking under a tree today.

A few hours later the car had been bird bombed to a degree that the Luftwaffe would have been proud of. Not tiny sparrow things oh no, great big Crow Pats. At least I don't have a convertible.

As I sat under the apple tree,
A birdie sent it's love to me.

As I wiped it from my eye,
I thanked the Lord that cows can't fly.
