Jonn,
Nice-looking car, but at 100k and £10k, I'm not sure that's a bargain for a Coupe.
Keep looking!

Will do, Paul. Inheritance due within 4 weeks so...careful choice I think. No rush. Just shows there are nice ones appearing!

just a balancing view
not matter the budget , and the perceived condition of any car, be aware that they will probably need some sort of work on something, and even if they come with a full MOT , thats no indication that everything is ' perfect'
same old adage
buyer beware
but good luck with the search , and buy a car you like, and not a compromise car that ' will do ' because its in front of you when you have the cash

Thanks Vince.
Yes, I'm well aware that whatever I end up with..will need jobs doing!! To think a 20 year old car..at least..will not need work somewhere sometime is naive! No worries, I'm not and there will be a suitable works fund available to keep her up to a high standard.
Swallows nearby will be given the jobs and they have a decent rep. over a number of years as well as preparing racing XJS!! Not that that's what I want..but they have much experience of prep and completion of XJS's.
Looking forward to viewing some treasures soon!!

Cheers Rob.
If it's still about, would certainly like a good look!!! Would be well within budget then! I'm sure it's a good one too.

That's the one that confuse me with the ignition amp; is it Lucas or Zytek?

Yes it confuses me too. But it does appear to have the early 6.0 air boxes, modified cross member and though I'm not certain, it looks like it had the air intake temp sensor which was a zytek only feature. Must be a very early one. The zytek does use the Lucas dizzy cap and ignition amp. But the amp was usually on top of the radiator.
The badges always look like an after thought on those early plenums.

Could it be that the Zytek broke down and, being rare, spares couldn't be found so a Lucas system was retro-fitted?
