Nice-looking car, but it's not a 1996-built car.

In fact it could be as old as 1994. It's certainly built before April 1995. Get the VIN and I'll tell you when it was built.

I've got a couple of weeks off coming up if anyone wants me to go and check it out or bring it back.
For a small fee of course.

:D Many thanks for the input , chaps. DVL have it as a 95, so Paul is right. Of, course, that's when it was registered!

He does say in ad. for serious interest it would be brought back here, so there is an answer.

Now, my situation, as I've stated before is, no funds at present. However, there is an inheritance being processed through probate, which takes a bit of time, which will be completed within 2-3 months at outside. This is why I have joined JEC, why I am looking and asking for your advice and knowledge, so that if suitable cars appear, then I can move at the earliest opportunity.

It is frustrating, as I am on the bottom JEC rung..as an enthusiast, no more, but serious about changing that, for the right vehicle! Fools rush in, as we know.

Hope that clarifies things?

Many thanks again,

Jon

You should bag a temporary loan from Zopa and then fly to Greece and road trip back to the UK. You should haggle on the price factoring-in your transit costs etc :)

Easier said than done I know. Trouble is with probate is that it can rumble on for a long time :(

Good luck with whatever you decide...

There is no such thing as a JEC rung, top or bottom. There are Jaguar Enthusiasts and people who like other cars, if any.

Joining before you buy the car is the most sensible way to do it. Gather the info, ask the questions, get all the advice you need, before you buy the car. So many people buy the car, then join, you will save yourself the headache in the long run doing it this way around, and no-one will begrudge you that. In fact, I already know that everyone on here will be just as excited as you when you finally get the car you think is right for you. It may take 3 months, it may take a year. But it will be worth it when you do.

Sensible man!

:D Thanks Rich and James.

I didn't buy my X-Type(which you can see on the JEC X-Type forum) before, at the time, going on jaguarforum.co.uk. Found a lot of useful info. and ended up with a great car. Just proved too small estate-wise in the end, but an excellent drive.

I have learnt this is the best way and thanks for pointing out we're all enthusiasts, owner or not, and also patience is the bottom line in finding the right one. True, I could get a short-term loan but having been bitten financially in the past, know it's far better to have your own cash in hand..even if a goodie is lost. Not a problem.

'Swallows' near me in Somerset have just taken in a V12 convertible. Been meaning to drop in as they will maintain any Jag I buy. They also source cars..but mostly more modern, though I know they service a Mk. 2!! Need to visit!

Cheers,

Jon

John

Swallows maintained my XJS's for many many years and I would be happy to recommend them, tho I haven't used them for five years now so things may have changed.
But what year is it? If it's a 5.3 presumably not late and with K125 miles on the clock maybe a bit pricey.....or am I just behind the times?

:)

Don't think so, Tony.

Maybe too high miles for me, and sure it won't hang about long. I want to meet them anyway. They seem to source some excellent condition vehicles. Glad of the reference, thanks. Heard good things.

No detail on age but looks pretty smart! Rear seats too...
