Milly,
I'm sure you know the position on facelift headlights and the desire of Classic Parts to get them remanufactured as soon as possible. However, if you have an urgent need, the best way is to conatct all the breakers in the back of the JEC magazine and leave your contact details. One other way that has produced results in the past is to contact SNG Barratt as they sometimes buy in the lights of those converting to their twin headlight setup, or may have the contact details of the owners. If it's a small chip you might be able to get it sealed by Autoglass etc.
Good Luck
PS No RH lights on eBay at the moment.

Thanks for that. I've dropped them a line
We will probably have to get the existing light patched and just make the search a long term project. Well add it to the list anyway.

Milly - Not exactually going to help you this time but eBay sometime throws these up NS one going cheap at the moment. Maybe others in a similar position may be tempted.

I was very lucky a couple of years ago and managed to extract one from Jag, may have been one of the last they had. Do hope they are remanufactured at some point because ultimately we will need replacements (could happen on the way home tonight, who knows).
The only other suggestions being modifying a pre-facelift lamp to fit. Never done it but I am told that buy using the pre-facelift clips that it is possible. If all else fails. Sell your good headlight on ebay for a vastly inflated price and use the money to buy the twin headlight conversion (personally I think that these are terible, but if it means keeping the car on the road so be it.).
Good luck

Thanks
The temptation is to bid even if I don't need that one at the moment, for future disasters
But that would be unsporting I suppose
It will be interesting to see what the final price is.

Pre face-lift headlamp conversion

As far as I know it is (relatively) easy to fit pre-facelift headlamps.
Remove existing light and all fixing clips, purchase three new pre f/lift clips and fit them(£13 each complete and available). Connect pre f/l lamp and install. Older headlamps are still in fairly good supply (or were

) at about a hundred pounds each.
The clips are adjustable for position so a bit of faffing around will probably be involved re panel/bonnet fit lines.
I have no idea how it compares in looks, but at first glance what is the difference between the two? Oh I know later lights are adjustable from inside the bonnet? Big Deal.

You will find some good ones at the next Stoneleigh spares day.
Not at the stalls, but in the carpark, go armed with a screwdriver!
No, of course I'm not being serious. But it makes you think, we all need to also look carefully at the security aspect.
Parts availability is a problem especially of the facelift cars. Because of the relatively small numbers produced it is going to be difficult and expensive for small numbers of any unusual parts to be produced. It's one of those situations where a small, adaptable and enterprising company may step-in to find a solution. It may have to be a kit to adapt a widely available headlight rather then an original copy though. There may be no other way of keeping the cars roadworthy

thanks for all input
SNG Barratt came back with a quote for a twin conversion for £361.00 + vat and shipping,
They are ok but the look is odd. I was hoping to keep the original look
On a separate note should a celebration with a gold and green badge on bonnet have a gold xjs/jaguar logo on boot. The existing one we have is rough old grey'silver. It looks as if someone has had a paint brush to it. We ordered the part from Guy Salmon( god bless'em) and it came back gold
It looks odd with all the chrome though. Does anyone know which models used the gold coloured logos ?

My Jaguar/XJS lettering is BLACK, but then the car is black and the rear light clusters are black (smoked). From that I guess that they altered the colour of the lettering on the boot to suit the colour of the car
There again my car may have been "customised"....deep joy. Anyway looks ok to me

. It is very black............... everywhere

I have a 95 celebration in green, and my rear lettering is black. It does look a little shabby as if it has been painted - I guess that is the age and patina!

Well done for finding a replacement

Have you thought about fitting headlamp covers to prevent further stone damage?
Part Numbers JLM 11194LH
and JLM 11194RH
(To fit XJS 92-96MY)
Not a cheap item, but better then finding new headlights again.
