My FJ insurance policy was renewed four weeks ago, got the certificate back and an email reply to thank me for updating the mileage details.
I just happened to have a look on the askmid database and it shows as not being insured.

Phoned FJ but of course being Sat pm they are closed till Monday.
I'm not due out anywhere this weekend by chance, but I'm a bit annoyed. I don't want the hassle of being pulled over and being falsely accused of driving with no insurance.
I suggest you check your registration to be on the safe side.

That is a useful link so thanks for that.
It's actually a little scary how they track you now; I bought the XJRS a week ago Saturday, MOT expired Monday, MOT failed Tuesday, car fixed Wednesday, MOT passed Thursday, taxed it Friday at the Post Office with only the reminder document from the previous owner; no paper proof of ownership, MOT or insurance required.
Scary.

Hi Pop,
Not sure this is actually much use of a link.
I have two cars that are both insured through different suppliers (Co-Op and Peter James), on continuous policies, one was due last month, the other due in June.
Neither of those cars are showing as insured on the data base via that link.
I am quite sure that both are insured, there have been enough opportunities to pull me over, and North Somerset send a lot of these cars around checking parked cars.

Pleased to say J44 is showing as insured via the link above. Quite a useful facility in my opinion.

I concur with James, my XF appears as insured in the dbase, but my E Type does not therfore its value as a tool at the roadside or anywhere is clearly questionable....
There's no reason for this since the E is inusred through Peter James and I cannot be bothered with the effort this dbase wants of me checking with Peter James to find out why as I suspect there dbase is not updated 10,000 times per hour as they say.
This appears to the cynically minded (moi) as a poorly funded enterprise between the DVLA and the MIB to try and scare those people who are driving uninsured into insuring - however the people most likely breaking the rules are not the ones likely to be searching for their number plate, unlike the "worried well" of the law abiding community.....

FJ have updated the details and the car is now showing as being insured.
As to whether its the same database used by the authorities I have no idea but I do hope those not showing as insured are not inconvenienced by being pulled over at some point.
