Proposed XJS Forum meet at Cadwell Park 1/2 July 2006

Postby dhdove » Fri Apr 07, 2006 7:09 pm

Hi All
Following on the enthusiasm shown for the racing videos on-line produced by XJS6000 (see xjs video thread) and especially for Cadwell Park as a fantastic circuit I offer the following suggestion.
Would anyone be interested in making the trip to Cadwell Park on the race weekend Sat and/or Sun.
Meet up, chat, picnic? enjoy the racing etc. Basically a visit to race day but with a focal point, ie an opportunity to meet other forum members and somewhere to base yourselves when you want a break.
I think it would be good to meet fellow members "off-line" and this could be an ideal and informal opportunity.
I realise that Cadwell Park isn't the most accessible place for most people, but for those who haven't been, believe me it is well worth the effort. One rider to that, facilities for refreshments were limited last year so I think the picnic is a must, weather permitting.
I don't know how to get something like this off the ground, I guess it depends on the response to this thread and we'll see how it goes.
See you there.......maybe :)
Regards
DH Dove

Gordon,
I have no idea what your answer is :?:
Anyway, do you think it's a good idea or not? If not fine, but I hope to see you on the day, if so great, lets get on with it.
I'm only trying to promote a bit of friendly socialising and enjoyment of the cars we love/hate/love to hate.
Best Wishes

Hello DH,

I am up for that. It'll be good to meet some fellow forum members and racing fans.

I went to a couple of the JEC race meetings last year, Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park. Great racing at both events.

Brands Hatch has always been my favourite circuit due to the superb view of the racing you can get from just about anywhere around the circuit. Last year was the first time I had been to Cadwell Park. What a well kept secret Cadwell is! A beautiful circuit with viewing almost as good as Brands and some really good corners and gradients for creating 'racing incidents'. I'm already looking forward to going back.

I remember there was food and drink available in the club house up near 'the mountain', but nothing available elsewhere around the circuit. Bringing our own grub might be a good idea.

We could set up an unoffical group car park somewhere around the club circuit - loads of space near Charlie's or Chris curve with good views over the track.

See you there.

Cadwell Park is rather a long way from me, but I'd like to go to Brands.

It's a great idea though and I hope you have a good gathering. Cadwell certainly looked great on the video clip.

I'm keen to go if the motor is back on the road (it should have an MOT, but it won't look pretty). Would be a good run out for it.

Where is Cadwell Park?

Advert for Proposed XJS Forum meet at Cadwell Park

Postby Norman » Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:12 am

Hi dh dove
Regards your post comment on Friday April 7th ''I don't know how to get something like this off the ground'' I can arrange to have an article placed in the XJS Forum page for the 1st June issue of the JEC magazine.

To make the 1st June JEC magazine issue date, I will need your article by 20 April or 25 April the latest. If you would like to add any other general comments about the XJS Forum please feel free to do so.

I think it would be great if you all had the XJS Forum badge on your wind screens at the race meeting, see General section for badge post:
http://www.jec-xjs-forum.org.uk/xjsbb2/ ... .php?t=239

If you could send the article to Norman Hicks (XJS Forum Co-ordinator) on email: private.norman@talk21.com

Hope this helps promote the meeting it sounds great fun with the picnic and getting all the XJS cars together in the car park.

I will also let Terry Dye the club representative for the JEC Club Racing Organization know of your trip to Cadwell Park as he would love to show you all round the paddock and explain the XJS race cars to you all.

Well I for one would love a look around the Paddock and a close look at the cars!!
I've already printed of my 'Forum badge' and plan to put in my window at every Jaguar rally I attend.

I'm not sure how we can organise a gathering in the car park on the Sunday :?:
Do you think we could get an area allocated or someone put up a signpost towards an area.

Cadwell Park 2006

Postby dhdove » Fri Apr 14, 2006 12:59 pm

Norman
Thats brilliant, I'll put something together and get it off this weekend. Guided tour of the paddock sounds great.
Gordon
I think Glenn H has already solved location, theres loads of space around the track where we can park together I have a place in mind but dont know what its called, turn right as you enter circuit round to the left down the dip and up the other side. Thers a huge grassed area up there. I'll pull up the circuit map and confirm name of the bend , its a right hander at the highest part of the circuit.
Don't know yet whether it'll be Sat or Sun, best check out the racing prog. for the weekend, is there xjs racing both days? Also which day can most people go on? We're staying locally so can attend on either day.
By the look of it all we need now is the weather!!!!!!! :D
Best Wishes
DH Dove
PS Checked circuit map, it's "Charlies"

I'm not sure which events are on which days, but I'll be going down on the Sunday.
Here's hoping for a sunny day! 8)
