Re: Latest Pictures of the Lister
Neddie,
As I am quite new to the forum, I have only just come upon your pictures. Wow, what a great looking beast. Is it the full fat 6 litre engine? How did you come upon it and how great is it to drive?

Re: Latest Pictures of the Lister
Hi Reg
Thank you for comments. It's not the 6 litre it is the only non V12 RHD ever made, it's a standard 3.6 with a bespoke crankshaft that makes it 4.0. It has a mix of Lister and Le Mans additions that cost £28k in 1989. Not sure how it drives as I only started her for the first time this week, however the noise from the engine is something. I bought it recently with a lot of other classic cars.
I'm going to the Dudley Classic Car show on Sunday and will taking her along, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
Regards
Neil

Re: Latest Pictures of the Lister
Nice to see it out in the open and running. Hopefully you will be able to generate some excitment at Dudley if you can turn the engine over and give it a few revs
I expect you will find it pretty quick on 0-60 with the manual box and 4.0L up front, which doesn't have the weight disadvantage of the V12 which offsets the slightly lower performance, depending if anything else was done. Not sure if those exhaust tips indicate there has been some tinkering with the exhaust bore and air intakes. The front airdam and bodykit on the rear and spoiler will stop the car lifting as it picks up speed and have a big improvement on the drag co-efficient.
I came across an article from 84 on the Lister prototype (which had the 5.7L v12 - about 380BHP) which mentioned the following about the gearbox. Not sure if it may be relevant to what you have as its not a V12, but it seems they were experimenting at least initially with using non-Jag boxes:
"But isn't there a problem with the Rover-based Jaguar manual gearbox when you pour much more torque through it? The Lister's five-speed is straight out of the realms of NASCAR, a Doug Nash Special from Frank in [sic Franklin ?] Tennessee, with a Hurst Street Shifter that has a direct drive top gear. This means that your Lister-Jaguar can run a fairly high rear axle ratio, up to the factory's 3.03 to one. In this form, Beaty claims you should be able to blast away from the golf club - to 60mph in 5.4sec..."
