replaced rivers door window winder today

my existing and original drivers door winder was not performing correctly since the rebuild
the symptoms were slow operation, sluggish towards the top of closing, sometimes binding , and when winding down it would drop at two thirds down , ( but not all the way )
this is not acceptable , i had spare motors on the frames from the spare doors from the restoration , but they were the earlier round Delco motors compared to the square sided ( Seimens ? ) motors for my 89 car , however, after a quick test on a battery i found they work exactly the same, and the wiring is interchangeable , as its just Lucas bullet lugs
the main problem is the complete dismantling of all the door components to get in there and work on it, but its embarrassing ( and wet )
when the window wont work, lol so had to be done
i wound the window all the way to the top , and then removed the door card , then i undid the motor mounting plate screws , along with the door lock handle , this allows the whole part to be wiggled out while sliding the runner out of the bottom of the window glass runner , and then install the replacement , putting all the screws in finger tight and getting things lined up before tightening , then i started smiling, as this motor and gear works perfectly ,
while it was all apart i had a go at the electric mirror controls, these are notorious for not working, examining the small pin plugs i noticed the male pin sections were ' split ' allowing me to insert a stanly blade and pry the two sections apart making the pin wider, i did this to every pin on all the connectors, this allows a tight fit back to the female plug and hey pesto , fully working electrically adjusted mirrors,
thats a first, lol
