Hi All

Thought I would post the original invoice for the Lister conversion.

So that's without any engine tweaks? The last time I saw a Lister XJS (years ago), I think it had some humungeous 7 ltr V12 or similar. Presumably add even more £££s

No this a 'one off' it's a 4.0l one. You are right they come in 6.0l and 7.0l versions with up to 500bhp.

Neddie,

As BB says, it's really good that you've got this as it's a really important part of the provenance and quite rare for it to still exist.

It just goes to show how much people are prepared to pay to own a very personalised car. The ultimate Lister is a supercharged 7.3 litre Le Mans convertible which produced 700bhp and costing £200,000 back in 1991! Now that's a dedicated (and very rich) owner! See the XJS Forum Home page for a bit more info on Listers.

AJ6 Engineering offer a 7.3 conversion kit, but not supercharging, to the best of my knowledge.

From memory, David Marks recommissioned a V12 supercharged Lister last year / year before? There was a two-part article in the Club magazine. I wonder how that car is running now? Dry use only, no doubt!!

£11,000 for the body styling  There must be a lot of work on the wheelarches. I assume that figure didn't include the engine modifications?

TWR only charged £2,100 for their kit including painting.

Be interested to see how the Lister kit specifically effects the aerodynamics. Rear wing and rear and front airdam look very similar to the TWR ones so assume they are intended to have the same effect. What are those vents in the rear wheelarches for?

I have an article from 1984 about the Lister 6.4l 440BHP prototype that was being developed when TWR launched their version of the XJS. No wheelarch mods and vents though, just plain bodykit. Apparently the cost was up to £35K depending on the state of engine tune required.

Yes very expensive conversion but the engine is only 4.0l, I think it's the only one. The body kit is the Le Mans version and the vents i believe are for cooling the brakes when exceptionally fast.
A 7.0l cabriolet sold last week for £41k
