I know DIY in the home can be dangerous , but working on your car.....?

well , yes, lol

while tinkering on Tuesday evening , and ' adjusting ' the fitment of the boot carpet trims for a more pleasing finish ( to me ) , i had to modify one of the corner carpet trims that is mounted on the card , this is the one with the plastic cover for the relays by the battery , and as i have black boot carpet ( you wont believe how hard this is to obtain ) i used parts from a tan coloured set to modify my original black set

in the process of this modification i had to refit the plastic cover , this involved drilling out the card/carpet to fit the press rivets , this is where it got painful .....

while drilling this section , and resting the back on some wood , the 100mm long 5mm drill bit broke, dont ask me how, but it did
the remaining shank that was left in the drill found its way all the way through my left thumb , in on the left of my nail, and coming out the right side of the bottom of my thumb........

now , those of you who have been in a similar situation know its the pulling out of the drill , not the drilling in the first place thats the problem !!

duly pulled out, i staunched the now copious amounts of blood and went indoors to seek medical assistance ( a plaster from the wife ) , and considered a visit to the hospital........ as i had a hole through my thumb........

i decided against waisting their time with my stupidness, and cleaned the wound ( i am a first-aider ) , and dressed it properly and then took some pain killers ,

well, its now Saturday , the dressing is off , and the thumb is getting better enough to carry on working on the car.....

be warned..........

BB

BB,

Owwww! I share your pain!

Yesterday, I struggled to put two screws back into the bottom of the undertray on my X350. I was working blind, trying to balance them on the tip of a so-called magnetic tip screwdriver. Five times they dropped off into a recess that involved me having to pull off the whole undertray to retrieve them. In the end a combination of bluetac and extreme patience solved the problem. I then mused how magnetic tip screwdrivers are fairly useless, yet parts of our bodies seem to have an inate magnetism to moving hammer-heads, revolving drill bits and the high-velocity output of staple- guns. Or is it just me?

Get well soon, BB
