Would you believe i dont need any major body panels but i do have to repair the n/s/f jacking point. I need both speedo angle drives, headlights, alternator, clutch hose, rear hyd calipers and any ignition bit to have as spares. At the mo i dont need any major stuff, but would be happy to buy any easy to post stuff.

Well, the med resto has grown arms and legs into an almost major resto. So far on the body i have replaced both lower rear 1/4`s, patched the rear panel and round the tailights, cut out and replaced all the bad metal inside the n/s/r rad arm mount and chassis leg, repaired inner sills at rear but oddly the o/s mount was like new inside. Replaced most of the n/s/r inner wheel arch. All Jag panels. had to replace the n/s/f jacking point and most of the surrounding metal.Front crossmember and legs like new and floorpans just needed and wash and brush up.
Aquired a gen jag unpainted bootlid for £100 from Manners (they have one other left)and also a n/s/r wing.Good doors from spares car. But worst bit is the car had a sunroof fitted which someone has removed and welded in a plate and what a balls up but skinned up not bad with about an ton of filler, so i am going to have to really test the old skills by fitting a new (secondhand) roofskin.Windscreen surround ok but screen badly chipped and cracked at the slightest pressure. Also needs a new headlining.

Mechanically not too bad. Found vac advance bust, so dizzy out and a check of the weights and a gen tidy up and back in. Surprised to find it is still on the 3-wire trigger board. All new belts and new alternator.Had to make one aux air valve from two but got a working one now New front discs and got a cracking deal and 4 recon calipers (£150 for 4) new pads, pipes, hoses, rear shockers and hand brake pads. Radius arm bushes, steering rack bushes and gearbox mount bush (what a faff that was for what it is) lower and upper speedo boxes and a working pre he speedo with some mileage correction (not done that for a while, soon came back to me though) to same as previous one but no idea of true mileage, still has BL exhaust in not bad cond and managed to pick up a pair of gen back boxes.

Hopefully off to the bodyshop tomorrow for the last of the fussy bodystuff and we will do roofskin and n/s rear wing up there.I will get the covers off the bumpers and get them fitting better also have a go at cleaning seats whilst garage is empty but suspect they will need the attention of an upholsterer who will no doubt throw up his arms at the mess ive made but that may have to wait till next winter. The car has flattened my wallet enough this year.

So far not had anything too difficult just sometimes frustrating but thank goodness i can do most stuff myself and have some good mates rates with body guys and favours to call in with the local motor factors or i would be into £000`s and who knows in labour alone. But doing an XJS in a 17`x 10` single garage with the door shut to keep the heat in has called for a bit of advance planning but i have strong joists so the block and tackle slung round bumper mounts replaced the trolley jack. Also handy when replacing rear cradle.
The spares pre he has not been the god send i hoped. It is more knackerd than mine but engine and electronic bits are fine.
Hopefully going to have a Yellow Gold 4-speeder at the steam in the park weekend in May.

another. roof panel swap not too bad a job. Interior now out for a clean and bumpers and wheels alos to get a bit of spit and polish. Passenger door saveable but drivers door frame is shot but i have another pre he door that is fine. New window and door rubbers and headlining ordered and that is it. The wallet is bust, anything else will have to wait.

Passed mot and now in use but having a bit of bother with hesitation on acc unless fit is to the carpet and the wallet cant keep up with that. So changed fuel filter, plugs(with were all nice and beige with a darker ring on outsite, lovely, all 12 at that) and had a go to get the timing sorted but lost the timing marks so a bit of guesswork was done, running a lot better but i noticed the throttle bushes are missing on l/h bank. The bloody fuel guage packed up on me so a couple of gallons in the boot till i get a chance to sort it.
