A surprise on browsing the December 'Octane' in WHS to see an article on Buying an XJS and there inside looking gorgeous some photos of my car taken some years ago for another mag by the very talented John Colley in Derby. Proper studio shots in his then new purpose built cornerless set - up with indirect lighting.
The pics are now on the Magic Car Pics on - line site which is worth a look having all sorts of stuff.

Paul,
Great to hear of a members car being featured in a nationala mag.
Any chance that you could upload the pics to the galleries here on the website?
Paul

Not sure how we are fixed with copyright which seems to be becoming a more dangerous territory thanks to video pirating, but the pictures can be seen on the Magic Car Pics site by clicking on 'Jaguar' and 'XJS'. My car is the blue one and the whole shoot can be seen, not just the three in Octane, plus loads of other stuff. Give it a go.

I am told that my car is again on a magazine cover, this time the April 2013 Jaguar World.

M120 HFP in Blue? I see it - article entitled "£6K Heroes". Look forward to reading that later...

BTW
Corner less set is called an "infinity cove"
Designed so that curves in walls and floor (usually with a white roof that can be raised or lowered) give an impression of infinite distance arranged with lighting accordingly. So the object, ie car seems to "float".
Nice pics too! Congrats!

Here we go AGAIN!!! My car is all over the November '14 issue of Jaguar World mag, but masquerading as a V12 this time although it is still only a modest 6 Cyl 4 litre really. Experts say it should have a V12 badge on the front grill but not sure about that myself. Wonder why they did not write the article about late XJS's in general of both engine types as the pictures would have been relevant to all .

Hi Paul,
Nice pics of the car, but it did make me laugh that they had used a 4 litre car for an article on the V12. I'm not sure which "experts" have told you that there should be a V12 badge on those later facelift cars, but they're wrong! It's a shame that JW didn't come to the club first as we could have provided whatever correct car they wanted for the article.
As a matter of interest, it looks there was a wheelnut missing on the front offside wheel or have you got some special locking wheelnuts which are much smaller?

Unfortunately JW are not very good at attention to detail. The magazine is often littered with typos etc and they often get details wrong.
For instance, they did a feature on the XJS Celebration where they stated that the bonnet badge was the same as a 4 litre S Type. Of course it's not and I pointed that out to them but they've never printed a correction.
Shame really because, if like me you keep an archive of old copies as a reference source, you can't rely on what they print to actually be correct!
Regards
David

Hello PaulS,
No wheelnuts missing - the locking ones came with the car and as you say are smaller than the standard ones.

Pity I did not get myself into a repeats payment contract as my car's photos are featured AGAIN in a recent special edition of 'Practical Classics' all about the XJS which is currently in the shops. Very good too showing everything about the car from preliminary sketches. Even the airflow around the buttresses is explored. If you have an XJS or are interested in them be sure not to miss it.

This is a good example of the media interest we're already seeing in the 40th anniversary of our favourite car. The sister magazine Classic Car Weekly also ran a 4-page feature in January where i had provided a lot of the input + an interview and pic.
The Practical Classics guide is a 100-page publication available in Standard or limited Collectors Edition signed by the author Paul Skilleter. You can order either edition here:

I have just ordered the £6.99 version as I don't really do collectible magazines (they have a habit of ending-up in the loft). Cheers for the link.
