SimonR joked about putting his car into winter storage when the suspension is fixed. At least I think you were joking Simon.

My XJ-S is my daily driver, and I see probably two or three others each week. My daily mileage at the moment is about 130, and has been since I've had the car, about 4 months. Anyone else using theirs daily?

Well, it's partly true. I have an old Maestro Vanden Plas which is my daily drive, mainly to keep the XJ-S shiney and new but also for fuel cost reasons. I intend to drive the Jag a bit through winter but will avoid the wet and salt as much as possible. To be honest I don't drive very much anyway as I cycle to work each day in an effort to stay fit! I suppose the miles will be split about 50-50 between the two cars.

It always makes me laugh when I get in the Maestro after a couple of long journeys in the Jag because it feels like I'm driving a go-kart.

Hi Martin

For the last four years my XJS has been my daily driver but in August this year I started using a 20 year old SIII Daimler that I had been given. The XJS is still the vehicle of choice tho' and an excellent car for the purpose, comfortable, refined, quick and good looking.

Martin,
HI, nice to see a daily drivers thread, I do @ 50 miles a day commute and about another 50 on the weekend, current mileage @ 180,000 miles.
I believe we all own the cars because we love them to bits and how else can you enjoy it without driving it?
Also previous experience with putting my "daily driver" (Rover P6 3500S) on Classic car insurance for "enjoying in the summer", taught me that you still have to pay insurance, Road Tax, Mot and lock-up garage rent, but what's worse the condition of the car in every area nosedives whilst its off the road, no matter how conscienscious you are about running it regularly during the winter months. So I offset those costs against petrol costs and get to enjoy it every day.
Works for me! :)

That's a good point. They do deteriorate if they're not used. I used to own several cars and reduced to 2 for that reason. I try to use the my Daimler 2.5 V8 as much as possible as well. I only stop when the salt is on the roads.
