Sump nut size
30mm confirmed by David Marks at the XJS Seminar yesterday.
As a result of the length of a 30mm spanner and the torque that can be applied as a result, these nuts are prone to being overtightened which strips threads and at worst, especially on later cars where the threaded area of the sump is "scalloped away" can destroy the sump
Always replace the gasket.

Tony

Sump nut size
Hello all
Sump drain plug is 30mm as previously stated over tightening can as DH says can cause severe damage.
The correct torque setting is 41 to 47 newton meters.
Also replace the copper washer as it does get squeezed to flat to use again and only costs a few "coppers".
Best Regards Mark
