Bit early to mention perhaps, but in case anyone's interested (and if no-one's already mentioned it), the 12th Annual London to Brighton run will be on the 25th April 2010.

The starting point will be Hall Place (in the borough of Bexley) and the stop off point will be Parham House and Gardens, Amberley, West Sussex which looks a fitting setting for our eccentric...er, I mean exclusive, cars.

If the weather is half as good as it was this year it should be a really good day. :D

Do you know what the event mileage will be? Have always fancied entering but it is a bit far from here for what is usually about 80 miles of actual run. Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul

Well as you summise it was around 80 miles last year; this year the start point is closer to London and the stop off isn't exactly on the way but a bit further West of Brighton, so I'd guess it'll be a slightly longer run...from where you're coming from I think I'd make a weekend of it if you're keen on attending.

Hi,
Am about to book onto this...

I note that there are three start times on the Sun morning. Was there a particular start time that folks were planning to pick?

Might be nice to have a pride of XJS grouped during some parts of the run and at the end on Brighton promenade?

Cheers, Rich.

Rich,

I've got my usual early slot (No.3) although I don't usually bother heading off for about the first hour or so. I usually travel in convoy with Norman Hicks so we'll probably leave about 9ish. The organisers obviously want you to leave in number order but are pretty flexible. Parking even two cars together at the stop points, and particularly at Brighton, is often impossible even if you travel in convoy, unless you're in the very early starters.

I'll look out for you anyway. If you haven't already got one, let me know if you want a Forum BB windscreen badge (can't remember if I've previously done one for you).

Regards,

Paul

I've got a 09.40 time-slot - no further details yet. Will need to wait for the pack. I'll print out the Forum badge and render somewhere on the XJ-S :D

Will be staying in Canary Wharf on the Sat night, then somewhere in West Sussex on the Sunday night...

Cheers, Rich.

Just received my pack today :D

Anyone know where to get a rally plate holder that will fit an XJS?

Thanks, Rich.

Hi Rich

Last year I just stuck some foam behind it and tied using string to the grille and propped it up on the bumber - for the facelifts it's not an elegant solution, but as far as I know there aren't many options.

I'll be interested to see if there are any other ways of doing this.

I noticed that I didn't get the extra tickets to cover my two small children - maybe they're trying to tell me something! Have sorted now (hopefully).

I saw there's a Lynx Eventer on the list - that should be interesting to have a look at - still not sure about those...

Big Cat - I puzzled over this at some length years ago trying to devize a fastening for the large plate issued for entrants on the 'Entente Cordiale'. The answer has now served on 4 trips to France and is quickly fixed and removed which is important as on some events the plates are handed out minutes before the off . I will photograph mine and put the shots on this site. Paul.

Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised that no-one makes a kit for this sort of thing; explains why my googling turned up nowt!

Richard - extra tickets should be attached to the covering letter in your pack. If you don't have it already, I can pm over Lynn's direct dial phone # if you need to follow-up

Paul - have pm'd you with my email addrs.

Hopefully might see you all next weekend. I just hope that it is dry next weekend; the cat hates water!
