The Practical Classics Magazine January 2010 issue has an XJS Buying Guide with pictures of my car. An unexpectedly encouraging read for prospective purchasers, and the values are quite reassuring for existing owners.
Pictures of the car taken for this publication are in the Gallery

Very nice looking car, great pictures. I look forward to reading the article, any idea when it will hit the shelves?

I agree with what you say on values. The XJS does currently appear to be ridiculously good value at the moment.

Aha - so that's who ownes that tidy XJS! Congrats on having the pictures published, it looks really good in the mag.

I thought it was, for the most part, a good write-up. The only glaring error I could find was the MPG for the 3.6 - I get a lot more than 18!!

Hello Steveww - the mag must be on the stands now as I received a free copy this morning (Dec2). I thought much would be made of the value for money angle and was quite surprised at the £6K to £12K price guide for a decent coupe. I have seen the XJS tipped as the next E-type in terms of projected values. Here's hoping, or dream on - depending on your optimistic or pessimistic nature. Paul.

I am not sure the XJS will reach the stupidity of E Type prices.

IMHO at the moment there are too many tatty examples available which drags down the price of the tidy cars. As these tatty examples succumb to the scrapping rebate and generally fall to bits, there will only be the good examples left and prices should rise. It really is basic supply and demand. You can currently see this a little bit with the premium for the Celebration models. Certainly it does not make sense that you can buy a tidy XJS for less than a tidy MGB!

Hello Steve,
I totally agree with your post and as a galvanized late 6 litre owner I thought the price levels indicated in the Practical Classics mag. were spot- on for most XJS's.

The only issue I have with the PC mag.is their performance figures for the late 6 litre XJS(1993-96).Without appearing to be an "anorak", I might write to them.
In May 08 they did a general XJS vs BMW M635CSi article, but featuring the very nice heritage silver later 6.0 Coupe(P60 XJS)and gave a the general spec as, Power 262bhp
Top Speed 140mph ??
0-60 8.2secs. !!

In the latest PC Mag. article they gave the 6.0 XJS,
Power 308bhp (Hoo-rah! that's right)
Top Speed 144mph ??
0-60 8.0secs.
It should be ,Top Speed 161mph(Jag figures)
0-60 6.6secs.
I know in the grand scheme of things, doe's it really matter? No.
Unless you think its not worth buying a late model and personally, better XJS than an earlier, faster XJS.
They are all great value for money(if you get a good one!)
I have and a few others have put on the AJ6 Engineering Plus Torque power upgrade kit on our cars with good results(keep the cats. on (see previous posts.)
With these mods....0-60 5.2/5.6 prox. is far better than PC's 8.2

Happy motoring, oh yes, and Christmas! :)
