Can anyone recommend a classic car insurer that will accept a 1995 XJS most will not take a car under 15 years old and I want a agreed value policy for my car.

Two of the three insurers on the JEC site will not accept under 15 years and the other I will have to call after 9am to find out.

Who do you all use for your 95/96 cars?

I can hardly believe what I am reading as I have a 1994 car which is with Footman James and has been since first getting it in 2003. No problem with age and no mention of restricting cover to cars over 15 yrs-in fact mine has only just reached that age. Have they changed their criteria or what? If you are not familiar with the proceedure about valuations, they are done by the Club (JEC) in the person of our Gen Mgr. Graham Searle. You will need 4 photos taking - Three quarter front / three quarter rear / engine bay / and interior, which he will need along with a valuation form giving the car's history and condition. Blanks obtainable from Bristol HQ or you may be able to download one now. See my next val photos on this BB under 'General' and 'Is that my car', but no need to go to all that trouble - I'm sure decent snaps will do.

My 1996 car is insured via http://www.heritage-quote.co.uk/

Agreed value etc. and very competitive price. I recently had the miss fortune to make a claim and they were great, no problems at all.

Michael,

Have a look at these threads:

There's probably more, just do a search with keyword "Insurance".

Hi Michael,

I had the same problem last year when trying to insure my 1994 XJS.

Wasn't too concerned with an agreed value as my car is not condition 1.

Best place I found was Carole Nash. Always used them in the past for Bike insurance.

Their price was much lower than all 3 of the club insurers and they did include breakdown cover.

Check them out,

Mike.

Thank you all for the info

So far I have had a quote from Heritage with agreed value comes out at £470.00 and 5000 mile limit.

Will try again today, but the 15 year rule is a pain.
