Went to John Colleys studio to have the car photographed for an article on the XJS in Practical Classic Magazine - probably next issue.

Is this really my car?
Very nice, lots of polishing before the photo shoot.
Just got my convertible back from the body shop after having its bonnet resprayed. It looks fantastic.

Hello Tony - the experience of having the car 'done' would not make an article I fear as it was all arranged at short notice by e-mail and telephone. Nothing much to write home about. This was the second time the car has been to John Colley's, the first being about 5 years ago for an article for Practical Performance Car. He has a new studio since then with a proper drive-in glassfibre background painted light grey, but said that the mag often changes that to all white for publication. The shoot took about 4 hours as the lighting takes a while to get just right and as with watching any expert doing anything he made it look so simple. He has dolleys which he puts under the wheels to move the car round. Last time I went I nearly drove off with one still attached . 'The camera cannot lie' of course, but the car was changed to red on the last cover, blue inside. He now uses very low light levels and time exposures. flash last time. Said that the lighting is now more controllable. He does a lot of car mag work and has a website - just google John Colley. He also owns the club project XK150, plus a Ferrari 355 and a Ford Model A, so qualifies as a serious petrolhead I think. If you wanted to publish the photos in the club mag we should have to get copyright clearance which might be possible, but it will rest with P.Classics, not him. The magazine ideas on value will make interesting reading.
