Dear All

Does anyone else collect these?

I will be writing an article for the the magazine on the Mettoy Corgi XJS range of models in the near future and wondered if anyone else shares this rather arcane (anorak  ) interest?

The range of colours and "specials" is large to say the least - had I known how large at the start I probably wouldn't be writing this! ........detailed info. both in books and on the net is sparse so I'm piecing it together as best I can.

If anyone feels they can help with references, information, or other items please let me know.

In any event if you want to post a photo of your model(s) please do, it will help me to pin down just how many there are!

NB If you have models from the range you wish to sell I may well be interested.

Best Wishes
Tony

I think you were probably right first time.......I went to a car show many years ago and saw a second-hand XJS model "Oh, thats unusual thought I, I'll have that" - we'd not long bought Libby's V12. Some time later I saw one new in a toy shop in Blackpool so I bought that.......then I realised that there were some other colours........and then I found that there were some "rare ones" eg Carlsberg car with speedboat.......now indeed I'm afraid I am a sad B****rd.
Ho Hum

Pop

Hahaha - I had a silver V12 Convertible which my father gave me when I was very young, saying I should look after it because one day I may have the real thing. Oddly now I do have the real thing (well an XJ-S anyway) I don't know where it's got to!

I've also got an XK180 model and I'm looking after that in the hope that I may have an XK180 one day. Well you never know...

Hi Tony

As a few others are owning up to this, I thought it only right that I ought to
join the sad line, in owning up to having two models myself.

My TV would not look the same without them.

Regards

Philip and Ruby

I am a sad b**tard too...

I collect Jaguar models NOT just XJ-S examples, corgi, corgi juniors, corgi rockets, matchbox, dinky, Bburago, Maisto, Welly, vanguards,.....If it's a Jag, I'll have it!

Car boot sales are a delight! I even got 'Barbies XJS' (minus wing mirrors) for a fiver from one!

The Yat Ming XJ-S 1/18th is good but I do have a few 'issues' with it...

It's supposed to be a 1975 model. Why does it have the HE badging, Square door mirrors and wooden dash?

And where is the chrome on the B post?

Bloody models...pick, pick, pick....

Hi Tony.
What have you started many dark secrets are being revealed but the biggest to come out is your post on 27/8 revealing you bought the toy shop this really takes it to a higher level.

Best Regards Mark.

ps perhaps we can have a xjs run to Blackpool to visit the shop.

Apologies for my poor grammar, tho I must admit that owning a model shop is something that has always appealed to me. :D

Whilst I dont collect the Corgi Juniors (Matchbox model sized) I do have a rather nice "Super Electronic" XJS Convertible in BRG which takes batteries and has a remote controlled working hood and lights. I think the scale is about 1:18, it's 9" long. Interestingly (depending on exactly how sad you are  ) whilst the box is dated 1993 it seems to have Celebration wheels?

Here is a quick snap of that, the Carlsberg Speedboat set (rarish as seldom complete with the boat and trailer) and XJS Police Car (super rare and expensive if mint and boxed - although by coincidence there's one on e-bay currently for fifty quid.)

There are also various plastic kits................I have the Airfix 1:43 XJS - early V12 with Kent Alloys and a Hasegawa 1:24 TWR Sports, both unmade in their wrapping awaiting a future rainy day.

BB
I also have a 1:18 Burago E-Type self assembly metal kit still in it's box unmade and it's red. NB If anyone knows of a buyer it's for sale, make me an offer  .

Best Wishes
Tony

PS You may think that my study is stuffed with model Jags........and you'd be right, I'm working towards that toy shop :D :D :D

Hi BB, Yes I've got the BRG drophead and a self assembly white Coupe which I have since sprayed signal red. Funnily enough, I still have the original box as well!
