Anyone going on this on Sunday? Hope the weather is better than last year, although to be fair it was fine on the coast. This time the start is only down the road from me so can have a lie in and still enjoy breakfast! Taking the Cab this year, dug it out of winter storage last weekend and having checked it over went out for a good blast on Sunday and she's running well ... touch wood.

Hi Chris

I'll be there with the wife and 2 small ones squashed, er, sitting in the back...weather looks to be good (famous last words). I'll be leaving at 7ish to ensure a leisuely drive down from North Essex for my 9.05 off, but am a bit jealous of your lie in...leave a space for your bacon buttie after breakfast!

How the weather forecast changes - it's now heavy rain showers in many places for this weekend...

I'll be there, complete with family. Weather forecast looking iffy, so we may well get wet - can't bear having the roof up :D :D :D

What a great day despite the huge queues for refreshments at the start and en route. Only counted 3 other Cabs plus a D reg pre-factory convertible (a Lynx perhaps) whose information sheet described it as a cabriolet!

Chris,

It was great weather wasn't it? And I felt the route comprised of the best driving roads that we'd had for about the last 6 years.

As I mentioned when interviewed at the end of the run, the only disappointing part of the day was that I think that I was queuing for refreshments for longer than I was driving! Notwithstanding that, a great day overall.

That D-reg convertible was a converted cabriolet. You could see the unfinished top on the B-pillars where the T-top had been removed. It wasn't a bad conversion, could just do with a bit of tidying up.

Regards

Paul

Can only agree it was a great day and everyone was really friendly - the sunshine made it an even more memorable day.

Happy to say the worst experiences of the day relate to 2 incidents of car getting plastered with bird's muck - the first whilst en route (must have been a good shot and it was voluminous across the windscreen) and the second a passing seagull's instantly solidifying on the boiling roof whilst on Madeira Drive. Pleased to say I was ready prepared with many car wipes :D .

Felt sorry for the chap in the yellow e-type who broke down just down the road from the Grasshopper Inn - he told me he'd called the RAC, so I hope he made it on his way eventually.

As mentioned, queuing was a bit irritating and the tea/coffee table was swilling with liquid quite early on and looked a bit of a state but at least it was sunny...wonder if ironically it was the sun that stopped them using their hall and setting it out a bit better...still never mind.
