Security System

My 1992 XJS Coupe facelift has the Jaguar XJS 1992 Security System fitted. It has worked perfectly well until recently when the remote transmitter (key fob control) stopped working. Naturally I thought that the battery had gone but it shows 12.19 volts and I also have a second remote that has good battery life.
I think it probably needs resetting as I had some funny things happening in the snow in February happening to the car and the problem started then.
Has anyone had this problem and do you know how to get the remote re-working.
I can open and close the car using the key and the central locking system functions.
