I'm just putting a note on here to show my surprise at how good my mpg is. (apologies to V12 owners!). I've just filled up and with the last tank on my 3.6 auto coupe i got 32mpg! This was mainly fast A road and motorway, but even so i'm very impressed. I've only had the car since Feb.and was expecting probably around 25mpg. It has however gradually increased over teh 1800 miles i've done.

Perhaps ticking the "non working a/c" option helps?

Car going in for it's first full checkup and service (with ed abbott) since i've had it next week so fingers crossed!

Well maybe a bit! Yet to find where it's coming from; hopefully nowhere expensive!

On a long run and keeping within speed limit 'tolerance' I easily get 26mpg and with super unleaded this rises to around 28mpg which I am very happy with :)
From time to time I use Honest John's website to view real world fuel consumption and find modern petrol cars with similar or better performance are often worse!

I think it's all about momentum. When we lived in the states we had a 4.0L Jeep grand cherokee.......round town it would do about 15! but on a run at about 65 it would manage 35! Once they're up and running at low revs i think a large engine can be economical, but round town in a big heavy car where you are always starting and stopping you waste so much energy. That sems to be a good excuse only to use the Jag for long distances!
