Both my front speakers not working, both rear are OK.
Just wondering if there is something obvious I could check before taking off the door panels?

If there are anything like the XJ the cable that goes to the speakers are notoriously thin and weak, I have just re made my connections both front and rear, some of the cable had snapped by the connectors.

Yes they definetly are really thin. I've just had my stereo out and i was surprised at how fragile they appear. I would think though they are only likely to have broken at either end, so you could always take the stereo unit out first to check there if that's easier. In fact thinking about it, it would be unlikely both front speakers would stop at the same time unless there was an issue at the stereo, where the wires are quite close. Also if a later type connector at the unit, there could be a problem with it?

If the head unit is an Alpine unit as fitted to most mid-ninties Jags then it could be partial failure of the head unit if the loss of both front speaker audio occured at the same time. My 1994 XJ40 suffered this whereby the unit would render the radio station in the LCD display (or CD) but no audio output from any speaker. Replacement of the head unit was the only option and I was very fortunate to be provided with a decent working unit fitted at one of the Breakfast meets at AV8 @Keemble some years ago by Vince.
