Well it's time for the annual lottery of insurance renewal!
Last year, I had a policy with Firebond on the XJS at £220. Firebond have been bought by AON who also own Footman James and it was Footman James who sent me through the renewal quote this week - £343!!
Confused.com came up with a range of quotes with Admiral at £182, Endsleigh at £248 and Norwich Union at £265.
All of these quotes were standard fully comp, 6000 miles, protected NCB and market value
I rang Adrian Flux as one of the JEC approved insurers and got a quote of £202! They will also give agreed value on the production of a JEC valuation and photos.
I then decided to give Footman James another chance. Interestingly, they recognised that I had one of my motorbikes insured with them but their system didn't seem to recognise my existing Firebond policy which has been transferred to them.
Amazingly they quoted £479 for a standard policy & £538 for a classic agreed value policy!! When I pointed out that they had already sent me a renewal quote of £343, they said that this had been discounted because I was a previous Firebond policy holder and quotes for new customers were higher!
So, I've renewed with Adrian Flux and just hope that they haven't got something wrong in the details!
It seems that the insurance lottery process is getting even more bizarre. Shop around!!!!

Just out of interest, I've renewed mine with the AA. £232.00
It's interesting that you mentioned Footman James. I gave them a go and got back a quote asking for £486.00

I find Footman James are competitive for older cars (15 yrs+) but less so for anything more modern. This means I ended up insuring the car I use least with my main insurer to get my full NCD and the daily driver Jag with FJ on a 4500 mile policy! I later added a 2nd Jag to my FJ policy which cuts the cost but they have to share the mileage allowance. FJs customer service is pretty good too. Always pays to shop around on renewal though.

Paul,
I got my insurance through Adrian Flux also after trying numerous companies.
£197.00 (2000 miles per year) also agreed valuation through photos sent to them and that is with ZERO no claims because I have full no claims with the Merc.
No one else could come close to them, I've read all the bumf and it's all in order so wouldn't worry about the low cost..........
