Just a thought but if you gave the reg no. to a Jaguar service dept they can sometimes bring up the vehicle details including maybe vin no.

All I need now is the Vin No of the V12 Reg No JAG 542 Y which was for sale in October 2006. It is taxed untill 01-09-2008.

Does this help:
Make & Model Jaguar Xjs Auto
VIN Check Click to perform a free VIN check
Engine Size 3590cc
Engine Number 116005
First Registered 27 Sep 1984
Year Manufactured 1984
Former Keepers 3
Last Keeper Change The last recorded change of keeper occurred on 22 Jun 1998
Body Convertible
Colour Gold

Can't get the VIN without knowing it already! Can you cross ref from the engine no. I know there's been a plate change but according to this its not a V12.

Bleasie, the car check I used costs £3.95 a go so was by way of a contribution! It only allows you to check the VIN by confirming the one you type in. I don't know if it will allow 10 goes.

But I can inform you that the corecct VIN is SAJJNACW3CC13597.

I got lucky with a google search on the reg no, it was up for auction in 2005, have a look at

Chris,

1 digit missing on the VIN. Should have 6 digits at the end.

It has been writen by many that two Cabriolets were trimmed in Burberry fabric, one a V12 & one a 3.6.

I know your research has moved on somewhat since, but I came across this in an old xjsb magazine which implies the Burberry V12 was a coupe.

Maybe of some help or not. Although my scan isn't too clear that round object in the back seems to be a flat cap. Obviously the term Chav hadn't been invented at that time.

The magazine was Issue 1. August 1998 'XJS Bulletin'

There were only 6 issues published as separate A4 size 12 page magazines until they were incorporated into the main body of 'Jaguar World' magazine.

I've been having a last look through them before placing on Ebay, When they are, I will post on the forum as I can imagine there are a few articles and tech tips that others would be interested in.
