I need to buy 4 new tyres for my 1990 3.6 XJS coupe. It is currently fitted with Pirelli P600 235/60/15 w rated (and was when I bought it in 2001).
They seem like gold dust. Does anyone know a good source please?

Stuart,
There shouldn't be a problem sourcing Jaguar-spec Pirellis in that size. You just have a to do be a bit of phoning around to sort out a decent price.
Have a look at the folloiwng threads fro more comments on tyres and availability:

Stuart,
Ive just put a set on my 1989 V12 the same size as yours. I had no trouble finding quotes online from firms that would deliver for you to have fitted locally.
In the end I went to Micheldever Tyres near Winchester and paid about £115 each inc VAT and fitting. This was cheaper than I found online and they had them in stock.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your replies. I had tried Micheldever and other recommended supplies.
Micheldever have a batch on back order, but no specified delivery time; Headley have back order and 4-6 week delivery.
One of your links took me to Tyre Shopper and to a supplier near Portsmouth and the web site said tyres "available" but the man on the phone said "you won't get those for love nor money".
A number of suppliers have suggested going for 225 width as they are availbale in a variety of makes. Any ideas on this?
Thanks again
Stu

I used a company calle Event Mobile Tyres:
http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/
You can quote/ book online and they came pretty quick - fit & balance the tyres in a van at your work/ home. Think it was last year & around £100 per tyre (I got two).
All went pretty smoothly.
Regards,
Keith.

I got my tyres from Micheldever Tyres a few weeks ago straight from stock - no waiting - no need to order them or anything.
They have a huge stock and supply many of the tyre depots in the area so I'd be surprised if they didn't have them in stock.
Sorry if I had the last set!!

I went back to Micheldever Tyres yesterday to get a new tyre for my spare but they were out of stock. It would appear that the set I had back in June were amongst the last of them.
They have them on order and suggested that I ring them at the end of August.
If anyone else finds some please let us know!!

Thanks again for responses which support my original contention that there is a shortage of tyres in said size.
Headly Tyres told me early this week that Pirelli had said they were "going into production" of the tyres during this week but could give no indication of when they would be available for retailing.
If I hear anything helpful, I'll add it to this form.

If anyone is looking for a single tyre I have noticed a few new ones on e-bay.
Of course, there are usually sets of used wheels/tyres on e-bay but caveat emptor applies!
Sounds like new ones will be available again soon with a bit of luck so we'll just have to be patient!

I've used the Dunlop Sport 225 for many years. Good tyre.

Thanks Nick, I assume you mean that then tyre width is 225 rather than 235?
I mentioned somewhere previously that I had been advised to think of this size. David Marks' advice was to stick with 235 - anyone else tried 225s?

Hi I had a set of 235 Pirelli's fitted back in March this year, Racing Green had one set on the shelf and told me that they tried to re-stock and were told that Pirelli had stopped production in July 2007. I decided to start looking for a set of Jaguar lattice wheels in 16" and have now just been successful, the ones I have are 8" wide although there was a 7" also supplied. There is a slightly bigger selection of quality tyres available at this size. The wheel is also much nicer looking than the 15". If any one is interested in keeping the lattice look but in a larger size, the only company I found that will provide this is Image wheels (up to 18", and the cast wheel is nicer and closer in appearance than the billet), find them easily on the internet, not cheap though. Compomotive do a lattice wheel but no fitment for the XJS. I was told the car is too heavy and they don't do the correct bolt pattern anyway.

Last time I bought tyres was Dec 2006 (Tyreland, Southampton, £110 fitted). I need some more now, but find the Pirelli P600's tend to 'tramline' somewhat. Maybe I'm fussy, but are there any better replacements?

Good News
I have just been informed by Headley Tyres (near Newbury) that Pirelli now have the tyres on the shelf and I have ordered mine. They quoted £125.40 per tyre fully fitted.
They should now be available through other suppliers.
Thanks for all contributions. Good luck

Hi All,
I have also been on the hunt for P600's (235/60 R15). Tried most suppliers (except MichealDever or Headley Tyres - will try these soon) and cannot get a single new P600 (I need two). Most new P600's on ebay come with refurbished Lattice wheels that I'm just not interested in.
I am considering changing tyre size to 225/60 on R15 as I understand that US XJ-S's with 15" Lattice alloys were shipped with this tyre size. Ideally I'd love to get 16" Lattice alloys but these would cost over £1,000 new.
So I think that I might go with something like this;
http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 25/60_R_15
Has anyone else fitted this tyre?
Thanks, Rich.
