Hello everyone I went to the spares day over the weekend just like many other Jag fans. I cant help but think how expansive it was. Did the spares go up in price? Did anyone notice this? Ok i did get some bargains in the course of the day, but it did leave me with hole in my wallet !!

Expansive or expensive?
I've seen some quite ridiculous prices at spares days and an unwillingness to haggle by both buyers and sellers.
Worst example was a scruffy chap selling a standard XJ saloon jack, for £50. I pointed out I could find one in a scrap yard for under a fiver and kept my money in my pocket...

i found this last year, and as such didnt really want to go again
on top of that, none of the stalls seemed to keep much for my XJS , let alone my XJ8
i dont think i will ever go again, and to be honest , i have more choice on ebay !!!!!!

Well from the Isle of Wight, it snowed on the boat, Snowed up to Oxford, then bright blue sky. At the venue, sunny but cold.
But I think i might look on Ebay next time as there was very little for XJS cars

I agree with Irisphoto,I didnt see much for the XJS either.Did get some good contacts for the future though for bits, and the stall holders were so helpful, enjoyed it,my first one.
Did anyone see the XK120 or was it a 150,the guy selling it used it as a daily runabout!!!!

Cool
For my own part I too have been disappointed with the amount of XJS stuff on offer, tho the last couple of times it has been apparent that a few traders did bring stock but it went within the first hour. I guess this is the price you pay for the number built and their popularity. I think the early bird catches the worm.
Also, the experience is a bit of fun if you don't have to travel TOO far, you meet up with old friends/acquaintances, kick the tyres on the sales cars, perhaps pick up a mag/book/t-shirt/ huge stuffed Jaguar
Re E-Bay. For sad XJS fans like myself the trawl through the 600-800 XJS items on a regular basis is a must...........there ARE nuggets amongst the dross. Even if I rarely buy anything it's entertaining to look! Also, is it me or do the cars go very cheaply??

Yeah you say that, if the traders don't bring the stuff what option do you have? It was my first time too, I got a new set of HT leads £20.00 OEM (V12)!!! Bought a car cover from JEC club stand. Lovely
But I was really after fog lights. How hard can it be, to fine a pair. Looked all day. then I found one, good nick but just ONE light not the pair I was after.

The seller was asking £30.00. No way!
I will just have to wait for the Malting (Surrey) Do you know when its on next?

I didn't make it over this year, unfortunately, prior commitments this side of the Pond, but if anyone is desperate for parts, please email me. I have about 13 XJ-S now, some UK models originally, and the rest North American spec. cars,(I live in Canada). I have running cars that go from 1976 to 1995, and parts for most models. Before anyone asks, any facelift rear light assemblies that I have, I am keeping, in case I ever need them, but other than that, try me. I can post parts to the UK, or if there are enough needy guys out there, then I can send a big wooden packing crate full of stuff to cut down on the cost of stuff. I am NOT a business, but an enthusiast like you. I have 34 various Jaguars in my collection from MkVII to X300 XJ12, NOTHING after 1996 though.
