Hello everyone, Well Jaguar is now in the hands of an Indian owned company. Do you feel sad, happy or just excited!!

When I first joined the JEC I was told that I had a Ford!! At frist I took offense to this, then looked back at that time when Jaguar needed massive investment and without it, Jaguar would be history. I think Ford did a good job, and I think it will be judged as so. So Yeah so what, I don't care if my Jaguar was owned and paid by Ford and that sort of snobbery wont get you far!!

So now we are back where we started. Jaguar needs money, or its history

So hands up, who owns a Tata!!!

Hey Pop,

I've still got a Range Rover with the Morris Marina door handles! But then I also used to have a Morris Marina TC, a Morris Ital, 2 x Princess 2000s and a Triumph TR7, all great cars with British Leyland badges! And I've still got a Triumph TR6 with British Leyland badges on the side!

The Tata Trucks division is very well regarded in Asia. I bet they'll be good for Jaguar, long term. If not, I will write a post of apology on this Bulletin Board in 5 years time!

Come guys Jaguar where never part of BL. Sorry I should I say the BL logo never appeared on the car. Do you think E-type MK1 looks better?

Just lately Im warming to 1975 ish XJS model. I can put my finger on it.

irisphoto,

You may be right about the logo not being actually on the XJS, (I wonder if it's on the chassis plate on the inner wing?) but it's definitely all over the documentation, the marketing material, the windscreen stickers, the adverts etc. 1975 was the height of the BL era, wasn't it! I remember all the launch material at the time and the car was definitely on the BL stand at the Motor Show!

I agree that Series 1 E-Types are prettier, however, they are pre-BL, so they are off the hook here!

You are right about the logo on the advertising stuff. Question do you think Tata will make the same mistake? Phil

Remember the Indians also bought Royal Enfield and continued to make the Bullet motorcycles over there.

So I'm putting my name down for either a brand new 3.6 xj-s or maybe a Mk 2 saloon :D

Well, from inside the bowles of Whitley, it all looks quite positive. As everyone points out when Tata bought british steel they just gave them the imvestment and let them get on with it, same seems to be the case with Jag/Landrover.
I think they will interfere less than Ford did, afterall, before Ford acquired Jag the X Type 'buck' was a BMW 3 series with a Jag V8 in, the whole thing was going to be a nice rear wheel drive Beemer beater, but Ford made them use the Mondeo, the rest is history.
Food for thought.

Dear All

Comments made by Tony O Keeffe at JDHT were pretty positive in as much as Jag can compete head on with, for example Aston Martin without "badge" conflict getting in the way.

The future of the JDHT Museum itself, however, remains uncertain...........

NB Best BL car never put into production - the Rover P6BS (P9) mid-engined sports car, when William Lyons heard that Rover planned to sell it for several hundred pounds less than the E-Type he used his influence to have it squashed (less than two years later he did the same to the Rover P8 saloon, fearing competition for the XJ series).

Ah, the old 'swirling plughole' logo...

The cars may have been crap but the logo was ahead of its time.....
