Hi
Just collected my beautiful 1995 convertible today!
Had all the old classics....MK2 MKVIII XJC but this is something else!!
Will keep it 'til I get too old to climb in and out!
Can anyone advise please on a couple of things?
Steering a bit vague, think it needs new rack bushes ......whats best, original metalastics or new polybushes?
Of course the heating/aircon doesn't work .....where do I start and can you recommend a specialist in Essex .
Many thanks

Nick,
Congrats on the purchase - great choice!
Could you please get around to entering your car in the register as soon as you get a chance. And PLEASE get all the codes and numbers right. If you've got any problems finding any of the info, please drop me an email.
As regards the steering you may find that the steering is as per normal XJS standards. I susp[ect that you are aware of the flaw in the design which causes the wayward feelng when the bushes do wear. Also, a 4 litre 95 convertible will have Touring not Sports Suspension, so can contribute to a slightly floaty feeling. If you are going to replace the bushes, for my money there's no choice on a late convertibe - 'urethane every time. However, we all have our own views. There are a few threads under "Steering" on this subject. Have a look at:

As regards aircon, what exactly are the symptoms which make you feel it isn't working? If you can be more specific, you may get some suggestions here. Again, have a look under the "Aircon" artea for recent threads on typical problems.
Enjoy the car!
