93 model yr CD autochanger type ??

Postby longbow » Mon Jan 14, 2008 6:57 pm

Can anyone tell w3hat CD autochange will fit into the 93.5 facelift, i have a din plug inthe boot and i thought that the Alpine CHMS630 would fit, but i tried my mates and it wouldnt work, not even when i reprogrammed the radio, could it be that its not connected at the radio or that some wires have to be altered, it hasnt had one fitted before, or maybe its the wrong unit ???. Thanks for any help

longbow,

You haven't got a face-off panel on your radio, have you? If you've got the last of the fixed-panel radios, then, at the risk of getting shot down, I thought that they were Clarion units, not Alpine units.

Hope that hasn't confused things!

Thanks for the replies, it is a fixed radio unit as per the X300 type for that year, a friend has a 95 model yr and that takes the Alpine unit, thats why i thought that maybe the wire loom my require connecting at the radio, ??

I would have thought that it will be already connected, some Alpine Changers require an adaptor at the other end to work properly with this stereo. To check whether it's connected at your head unit is a fairly quick job though. There are various posts i think from before on how to do this or PM me.

As a musician may i suggest taking out the original (keeping it for posterity) and in it's place adding the Pioneer DEH P88PRS, the sound quality is astonishing. I do a lot of listening work now in my XJS, brilliant!!

Cheers

Jon
