Repairer care and attention.

I wasn’t going to post anything about this, but I feel the need to vent slightly...
I had my car in a Jag place for a minor repair recently and was disappointed to get the car back with the boot lining pulled out and not put back properly and the trickle charger I had left in the boot, in the event of the battery dying en route, had the clips attached to leads, meaning the plastic coating had been bitten through slightly. One of the boot lights is also suffering a loose connection and flickering and I can see wiring running across the top I hadn’t previously noticed before.
I know I’ll sort it once I finished messing with the door, but I think I’ll be visiting another Jag garage in the future.
Vent over.

The wiring across the left boot light has always been a bit loose. It has a sticky-backed cable clip on it that isn't very sticky any more! I had tucked the wires up there but they wouldn't take much disturbing.
The flickering light may just be that the bulb is a bit loose in the holder or the connection a bit loose. Again that may be my fault as I would often unclip the lights and pull the connection off if I had the boot open for an extended period of time so it didn't drain the battery. Maybe I haven't reconnected it firmly enough!
The rest of it you can't blame on me!
It is disappointing when care hasn't been taken and things come back damaged and you're right to be cross.

These things can be annoying but in my opinion it's best to just tidy it up, move on and not worry about it.
In defence of myself, I'm not a perfectionist. Which explains why I just drive and enjoy my XJS all year round in all weather. It's not the tidiest example but I don't care.

Take it back to where you had the work done and just get all up in their face,
They did not do a good job.

When ever you take a car in for repair you should always check the car fully before taking it away. It only takes 5 minutes to visually check bodywork, the boot and accessible areas where work has been carried out. Any other areas that have been worked on should be covered by a warranty given by the repairer. Any decent repairer will sort things out depending on how quick you let them know about them.

I once had a repair to the rear of an XJ-S sill where the wheelarch meets, a common rust spot. When I collected the car I could see a distinct step where he'd plated over rather than blending in. The owner of the classic car specialist I had carefully selected to do the work maintained I should have told him exactly how I wanted it to look and if I wanted it fixed I'd have to pay again! I ended up claiming the money back from the card company.

I always worry about repairers not writing down details when doing assessments. I learnt the hard way when I asked a welder to fit a new floor panel in a Morris Minor (he did not take notes). When I took the car for repair I stated that the panel was in the boot. When I returned I was devastated to see that he had patched the floor over another patch. It was my mistake to go for the cheapest quote and accepting just a vocal agreement of the work needed.
I now do things by email.
I also think by accepting cheap quotes you will not get the best finish like blending metal together to give a good cosmetic appearance.
