Hi Jeff
Welcome!

Just a couple of pointers.

If you make a booboo in posting, you can either edit or delete your own postings by using the little links to the right of the post subject, labelled and respectively.

Also, you are not alone in not using the 'Search' link (highlighted in white at the top of the page.

If you enter headlining in the keyword box, about middle right you'll have lots to ponder.

One final tip, when you get the search results, hold down the shift key before clicking on the topic link and it will open a new window, keeping the results and making it easier to select/discard useful postings.

Thanks for that. The main problem is the door cards. I have removed the door mirror switch, crome surround on the door handle, two top screws holding the front of the door card, bottom screws holding the light and the bottom screws holding the bottom of the door card but it still wont come off. It looks like there is another screw underneath in the 'door puller' that i cant get to. Is this correct and how do I get the screw out? Thanks Jeff

Welcome to the Forum :)

You are quite correct in your assumption........at the forward end of the grab handle is a chrome finisher, CAREFULLY prise this away from the door card and back down the grab handle - it is a very tight fit and you don't want to damage the grab handle covering! Under that finisher is a #1 Philips machine screw - it is one of the main fixings for the door card/grab handle. Remove this screw and you wil be there.
NB Have you removed the two screws holding the chrome door light switch striker plate (forward top of the card)?

The card must then be lifted up to clear the clips along the top of the door adjacent to and behind the window trim seal. these will be quit a tight fit and you may need to give the card an upward blow (gently) with the palm of your hand to free it.
Dont forget to unplug the speaker leads and light leads before pulling the card away from the door!

There is also a tab connector about midway up the card and behind the door grab. Although this will slide out almost unnoticed, it is important to make sure it is properly located on re-assembly otherwise the door card is not properly supported and will be pulled away from the door when closed.

Thanks for that. Have done it now and fixed the door mirrors that were not working. I cleaned up the connections and they now work. :D

Hi Jeff,

I'm guessing you're the same Jeff Turbo from Lincoln who is often seen on the Montego and Maestro Owners' Club Forums, and club stands for that matter?! Welcome to the forums and also to the considerable joys of the XJ-S.

Cheers,

Simon R.
