Drag racing

Evenin,
Well, the sun came out for 32 seconds today, so it must be time to think about drag racing again.
Anyone fancy a saunter up the strip?
Hopefully this year i will remember to bring my car too! Its a little swifter than last year as i have put the lower 3.54:1 diff in. I have also made up a new sporty exhaust system and sorted out a few little niggles, the result is that it seems to keep pace at the back of the JEC races quite well.
I dont know how this will translate to the drag strip, but it would be nice if it could match Glens XJR-S. But if not i will still be happy to pootle up the drag strip a few times and see if i can get my starting method sorted out a bit, and of course chat to other XJ-S owners.

Due to the massive response to Ralph's post dare I suggest now that we have a lot more members on-line, that the 'Run What Ya Brung' event is held again sometime in 2008?

For those not familiar, It's at Santa Pod in Northamptonshire, and details can be found at www.rwyb.com

This will *not* be a JEC or a XJS FORUM event, because it is open to all, ie a public day. However, I'm sure any Jaguars there will congregate together for a chat, and to admire, or laugh, at each others machinery. If you are a bit nervous about running up the strip, don't worry, you can come along as a spectator and just meet up with other like-minded enthusiasts. There are catering facilities on site and needless to say parking for all is freely available right in amongst the action.

that would be good, not been drag racing for many many years, and even then it was on a bike.. what date are you thinking of going?
for those not close to northampton, theres one up near york that does RWYB as well.

Would be up for the day, happy to stick with the 'XJS' members but might give my Alpine Turbo a run to stretch its legs

Its that time of year again.
Is anyone willing to genuinely support a JEC members (unofficial) Santa Pod meeting in the autumn this year? (2008)

The response in the past has been poor to say the least.
so if you want it to happen, put your name forward here.

Hi Guys,
As before, if its at Santa Pod, then happy to come along and support the day. It won't be in the XJS as Dawn is using it as everyday transport at the moment and if I break it I'll really be in the dog house. Will bring the Alpine and stick a leaper on the bonnet

The dragstrip mentioned above near York is called 'York Raceway' and is near Seaton Ross. www.york-raceway.co.uk will give more info. All very friendly and low key compared with Santa Pod but it is only quarter mile. Next meeting is August 24/25 when the Firestorm Jet Car will perform. There is also another at Elvington quite near (where R Hammond had his crash). Dont overdo it. PaulE.

I fancy ding Santa Pod again, mostly because i live near their!
Selfish, i know, but with a new baby and the resulting sleep deprivation long journeys are unlikely
I still have not had time to mend it since last year! Not repaired the gearbox ecu but i can still select gears using two switches and a length of wire, what can possibly go wrong.......
