Thanks Paul and Vince.

I think I'll keep the focus on the V12 as it is my car that is being tagged-up currently. Though that does raise a fair point around representation of 6 cyl cars. I'll speak to Mike and Brian about that and see if we have room on the Forum display for tagged cars.

Throttle bushes and AAV are commonplace issues so I should add those to the list. The other V12 related items I would say are fairly common and very important, but I'm struggling to know where to stop, as I'd also consider random items such as wheel bearings and stub axles, drivers seat piping repair/replacement, fuel tank replacement, Teves nitrogen accumulator sphere replacement, leaky rear diff, handbrake adjustment, corroded inner wings ..... aggh my head hurts!!

I think maybe a future article including the list, 6 cyl cars and these extra points might be in order :D

i think common place wear and tear items like bearings and ' normal ' rust can be assumed for any make or model of car , let alone a Jaguar XJS , though good to point out, it may well overload the uninitiated ?

but i think the concept is sound, and would be good to see, so its a case of cherry picking the ideal ones to make an interesting display , but not look like a car wallpapered in notices, as they will get lost in the detail....

if you do manage to have both engined variants displayed, you can share the common body issues between them both ?
you could also make all the notices and swap then around a few times during the day to make the display a little interactive

you could also do an interactive, ' where do you think this goes ? '

just spitballing , hope this helps

Thanks Vince - good point re "normal" rust etc and info overload. Will have to see how the tags turn out and then make a call...

Meanwhile this is what I'm planning to sub tomorrow:

Rich,

I think you're right. This could become a life's work!

If you want to make it really complete, even for just a V12 HE, there are all sorts of additional body, ABS brakes, interior, electrics etc t cover. And if you extend to AJ6 engines, there are a whole load of additional items. When we change to facelift, that introduces another set of items, and when we move to big-bumpers and AJ16 engines, you move into another sphere! And all of this is if you're just staying with Coupes! Bring Cabriolets and Convertibles into the mix there's another set of issues!

I think you've made a great start, and with your time constraint for tomorrow, it's probably best to stick with one V12 pre-facelift car. If you do want input on the other variants at some time, give me a shout!
