I have been trying to find polycarbonate covers to avoid future problems with little success. Our Jag main dealers are doing a free visual check on the car (underneath) and are fitting the headlight. We will certainly ask them about those parts you mentioned.
We are still nervous about doing stuff ourself especially when the parts are tricky to find. At the moment we are paying probably more than we should for work that Chris (my husband) wouldn't think twice about doing himselves on our "non classic" cars.

Hopefully confidence will come with time. I am on a steep learning curve though. The cars mine and part of the ambition to have one was that I would play a hands on role in keeping it on the road.
