Starfish Alloy Wheels

Postby KeithLM » Sun Jun 29, 2025 9:38 pm

Just bought a Sebring Red 1984 XJ-S HE - had to buy 5 new Pirelli P5’s as tyres were 17 years old! Need to refurbish the Starfish alloys - can anyone confirm whether these wheels were diamond cut or simply just painted two tone. Also what colours were standard for these rims. With thanks in anticipation.

Hi Keith,
I guess anything is possible down to personal choice. I have seen some chromed (not my taste) or just singly painted a matching eggshell silver.
Like my later 20 spoke turbine alloys, I have seen some painted then diamond cut (can't find the Starfish picture), but I think that was not an option with the HE alloys, I might be wrong.
I did find this picture from the Jaguar Forums.com site, with a suggested two tone colour choice, that I think might help you.

Some folks prefer to change the Starfish alloys to the Jaguar lattice alloys, and they do tend to come up for sell often.

Good luck and I am sure your car will look stunning whatever you choose.

Thanks Nick - am pretty sure that mine are not diamond cut. Just trying to keep the car as period & as original as possible.
