Gordon

Fit new car to toolkit then..................... :D

How's this for starters? I've had my eye on this motor on the net for a couple of months, price has been dropped £1K, tho' still at the top of the market.............looks like a gud 'un 8)
Puckah engine, airbags (out of date), instruments you can see in the dark, try not to break the headlights on this one though, you'll never replace them!
Just round the corner from you.
Part ex may need skilful negotiation..............

Gordon,

just read your post, having recently travelled some miles in my XJS I feel first relieved for your good health and second hoping for a good outcome with the insurance etc. I second teh comment that cars can be replaced whatever your love of it.

Whatever you do don't despair and leave XJS world. I'm new and forever wondering what took me so long.

Good luck

car garage includes BMW Mini Cooper S, and BMW E39 530i and now XJS '92 4.0 FHC. Soon to add Subaru Legacy Spec B estate. Not sure which one of above to go.

Thanks for all the replies and advice guys.

UPDATE:
I'm going to phone the car hire people ASAP as the 'caddy; is using way too much fuel.
In the last 3 days I've put 50 quids worth of petrol in and the on board computer is telling me I'm averaging 16mpg!

I wasn't even sure what size motor it had in until yesterday when I popped the bonnet.
Its a 3.6 litre V6..............no wonder. :?

Does your agreed valuation cover the LPG conversion?,
Gordon
I've just realised your car is the very same as featured in Jag Enthusiast Mag in August with the Autogas Conversion. :(
You seem to have proved that gas is safe in a major accident! Were you driving on gas at the time.
I have just collected my 5.3 V12 from having Autogas dual fuel fitted. I was encouraged to do it after reading your article. I'll post my thoughts on it when I have put some miles on.

Yep, that was mine!

Yes, i was driving on LPG at the time and the car took a fair old whack up the jacksy.

I've just had a closer look at the photos again and I think what helped tremendously was the Jaguars solid rear bumper.
It was hit on both rear wings and the boot lid but the middle bumper has survived without a dent. 8)

UPDATE 2:
Just received a letter from the accessors and they have declared the car a write off. (I would have been surprised if it wasn't  )

Just to keep you up to date......

Friday morning I received my cheque from Footman James for the agreed value minus my £100 excess which i will be claiming back.
So now I'm in the market for a car.

I really do fancy a convertible but just can't afford the XJ-S model.
So I've been looking at other marques.
Hope you don't think bad of me if I don't end up buying another Jaguar.
