Dashboard coming out!!

Due to minor op I'm not able to drive for the next six weeks so the XJS is going for some surgery of it's own.

To facilitate this the Dashboard is coming out which will give access to all sorts of other bits. We are going to have a look at some of the Air con but whilst the opportunity is there what else should be considered.

I know this is inviting more potential expense but I should hope there will not be another opportunity like this.

I (sort of) look forward to hearing from those that know. :)

Neville are you doing the removal yourself?
I have been toying /worrying about doing this, i have no idea how difficult this is?
Only thinking of doing this so i too can also access the blowers for the air con.
Does anyone know if you can get these buggers out without removing the dash?

It wouldnt surprise me if it is possible, after all some people would suggest that you need to remove the windscreen or remove the seats to get a headlining in or out.
Which is not the case, you can quite easily remove the headlining by just reclining the passenger seat and being slow and carefull.
Any similar trick for the blowers? thus saving a load of time, trouble, sweat and tears removing the dash?

I'm not doing the work myself. However the dash is coming out to repair the back of the scuttle without causing damage to the paintwork. The advantage will be that we can access the heater blowers. However, you can get the blowers out from below, mine have been out once.

Now that is interesting!
If you can get the blowers out without taking the dash out, then guess what task i will be tackling next.
Cheers 4 that.

Getting to the scuttle from the back hey! a bit of back scuttling non the less.

Mrb39 good luck, I didn't mention that I didn't do the removal and refit, only the repairs to the circuit boards. There is a procedure for carrying out the removal and refit but at the minute can not recall where I found it. Once I do I will post information, meanwhile some kind soul out there may also add to this post. I do know the job entails some upside down working, universal joints (not just the tools) and that there are some important bits for getting the flaps in the right place.
