Door card clips

Has anyone else had issues with the card clip holders on the card itself braking? If so is there a reliable fix before I tiger seal the clips to the cards.....

The cards and clips on S and X-types are not very robust.

The problem of breakage can arise due to not getting each clip properly located in the door clip fitting. If it then gets a fitting thump when not in line, breakage can occur.

Tigerseal, Sikaflex 291, or Kurapur equivalent polyurethane sealant adhesives once cured make a good fix. Let cure completely before refitting the card to the door panel. Put it together wet and that can really stick the card to the door and that will possibly make future removal difficult!

These fittings can be very fragile and need a fair amount of care and patience when refitted after being previously used. Whilst the clips are readily available on ebay and other outlets, it is rare to find the door card parts easily. dare I say it but a breakers yard can often produce these parts but examine carefully to ensure you don`t buy a load of tired and faulty junk.

I can't understand why you don't just go to the Jag dealer - the clips are not expensive and saves a lot of messing about

its not just the actual clip , but the clip retainer cup on the door card that breaks along with the clip , so the actual door card breaks

seems to be a very common problem with the X

Yep.the clips are all as.new it's the retainers on the cards that have broken. The cards them self's look to be made of poor plastic. I did stick them I thought quite well with waterproof superglue (they were well stuck!!!) But I noticed today that the latch side.on the drivers door has come free again.

There's a lot to be said for screws!!!!!
