I managed to find a few old cassettes to play in my Daimler. I want to keep the original audio system, as the radio sounds as good as any modern car systems and I prefer the originality.

However, the cassettes run slow, which upon googling is common problem with cassette players as the rubber drive bands perish. Can anyone recommend a good audio fixing person or company in the south east?

The rubber bands do indeed perish. But finding them's replacements is the problem. You'd have to have the old ones out to compare size to select new.
Slow cassette play could be the cassette rather than the motor band to transcription wheel rubber band. If that's slipping then you'd get not a continuous slow play but a normal - slow - normal - slow play.

Tape becomes brittle over the years so doesn't feed as easily. And the tape holder in the cassette doesn't rotate as freely as it once did (when you recorded Rolling Stones at Hyde Park, Mott the Hoople, or whatever your bag was at the time )

There was a company at the bottom of Eltham High Street that had a good stock of bands -- for VCRs as well.
Google doesn't show it and I haven't been down there in years -- it was on a RH corner going east -- lots of kettles, irons, and other electrical stuff in the window. They wouldn't take the unit from your car though. You'd have to remove the cassette player from the whole face unit.

Once you have the cassette player exposed its not too difficult to change the bands and transcription wheel -- that goes hard too
