these did come in several different flavours depending on spec, regardless of switches etc they came in ' material ' leather and wood veneer ,
mine as said was material ,
when i changed out my front seats i saved some leather ( and vinyl ) swatches , i used a small section of real leather in Doeskin which was rescued from the back of the driver seat pocket , the elastic was removed, leather cleaned and flattened, and roughly cut to size
i had already removed the roof console , and removed al the old material , four push fit washers hold the metal base section in place, these are easily removed ,
once cleaned up a spray of carpet adhesive was lightly sprayed on both the leather and metal plate, let it flash off and then offer the two together ensuring no saggy bits, a good stretch and it was in place, then i trimmed the leather to fit the section leaving enough to fold over for a nice finish , spray with glue again and leave to flash off, and then firmly fold over the edge while holding the tension
the below results are very pleasing if i say so myself
