Sourcing and replacing cloth trim to rear of seat bases

Hi all

Has anyone had any experience replacing the cloth ? Carpet trim to the base/rear of front seats on a mark 2

I have just aquired some Reuters recliners and don't really want to reuse the shagpile that is present at the moment

Any ideas as to what should be there and where I would get it from

The stuff you need is moquette, a velvet-like fabric, which you can buy from the reputable upholstery suppliers like BAS International. I've bought quite a lot of upholstery materials from this supplier and I've always found them very helpful and friendly. They sell moquette and vinyl (stretch and non-stretch) by the metre, as well as carpet sets and door panels which are as good as the originals. Their website is http://www.car-hood.co.uk.
As for restoring the leather seat covers, I used a kit from the Furniture Clinic - http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk and it's amazing how good the results were, without much technical skill and certainly no previous experience of upholstery restoration.
Just one thing - I did get an upholsterer to sew the vinyl seat back to the moquette, where there's some piping in the seam between the two.

I have got the colour match kit thingy from the supplier you mentioned and will prob give it a go. Unfortunately I have ambla back seats so if anyone has a mid blue leather one...................
