Wooden Steering wheel

I’m new to the forum, so apologies if this has been discussed to death!
What is the best size wood-rim wheel to fit to a Mk2? Flat or dished?
Is a Moto Lita worth the extra expense?
Is fitting an easy job?

Depends on your steering setup. I fitted a woodrim wheel, a 'fake' Moto Lita, to my MK 2 and 15 inch was great but I have Marles PAS! With an unassisted system you need all the leverage you can get when parking so you need a 'full size' wheel.

As to flat or dished I would always recommend flat as otherwise you're moving the rim even further away from the indicator and overdrive (if fitted) stalks. With an adjustable column it's unlikely you'll need to bring the rim any closer. In terms of aesthetics, a flat wheel looks better in my eyes too.

I didn't find fitting especially troublesome but take care to make sure everything is centred before fitting the boss. Even being one spline out is really noticeable on the road.

I swapped the 15in wood MotoLita on mine for a 14in leather rimmed one and find it much nicer to hold. Plan to put the old wood one onto my old Discovery if I can find a boss kit!

Thanks for the advice.
My car has no power steering so wheel diameter will be important
I assume the Moto Lita boss kits include a horn push button in the centre.
My wheel is doing the common trick of slipping up and down even when the locking ring is fully tightened. I assume I need a new split collet (just like the XJC they had on wheeler dealers). So if I’m dismantling the wheel anyway, it seems like a good opportunity to swap to a wood rim wheel.
It will just be added to the list of jobs!!
