Heater Vacuum Resevoir

Postby brent » Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:21 pm

Apologies if I put this in the wrong section..

So, none of the heater controls work in my 66 3.8S, and it gets pretty cold! The scuttle vent doesn't work either.

Looking at the workshop manual it mentions a vacuum resevac under the LHS front wing, can anyone help with pictures? I think mine is completely missing, there is nothing there and what looks like a vacuum tube that is plugged into nothing. Am I correct in thinking that the T-piece connected to the inlet manifold is on the RH side of the car?

hi this might be of help. the 420 mostly similar to your s type has!! an extra vacum tank in off side front wing. mounted onthe inner wing with a take off through the inner wing.this is an exta to drive the ventilation scuttle definately. if its missing as not available its likely the vacum pipe has been blanked off. therefore if scuttle does open when you accelerate it gradualy closes, then back off the throttle it opens again. mine does. have just made a tank to fit using photo and parts list out of old small camping gaz cylinder for a camping gaz lantern. the pressure out wards of these is imence so in ward silly vacum we need should be no proplem.hope this makes sence. reguards and good luck to solve problem.ps check any thin small vac rubber pipes if any new or replaced ones they deteriorate worse than the origionals.
